Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-08-05
AI Reviews is built by TwinDesigns. This policy describes exactly what the app collects, why it collects it, who it is shared with, and how you get rid of it. It covers both the website and the iOS and Android apps.
The short version
You can search without an account and without giving us anything but a query. If you create an account, we store your email, what you search, what you save, and what you write. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles. You can delete everything from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
Nothing here is optional-in-name-only. Where a row says it is optional, the app genuinely works without it.
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you create an account | It is your login identity and the only way we can send a password reset. |
| Password | When you create an account | Stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider. We never see or store the plain text. |
| Display name (optional) | When you set it in your profile | Shown as the author name on reviews you write. |
| Precise location (optional) | Only when you allow it, to rank places near you | Used to bias search results toward you. Sent with the search request and used to compute distances. |
| Default location (optional) | When you save one in your profile | Used as your search location when the device has not given a fresh position. |
| Search history | Only while signed in | So you can reopen an earlier search from your account. |
| Saved places | When you save a place | So your shortlist is there on your next visit and on your other devices. |
| Reviews you write | When you post one | Shown publicly on the place page, with the display name you chose. |
| Device push token (optional) | Only if you turn on notifications in the mobile app | So we can deliver the notifications you asked for. Deleted when you turn them off. |
What we deliberately do not collect
- Contacts, photos, calendar, microphone, or camera. The app never requests these.
- Background location. Location is only read while you are using the app, and only if you allow it.
- Advertising identifiers. There is no advertising SDK in this app.
- Payment details. The app is free and does not process payments.
How location works
Location is the most sensitive thing the app touches, so it is worth being precise.
- The app asks your device for a position only to rank places near you. It is read while the app is open and never in the background.
- You can decline. Search still works: you can type a location into your query, or set a default location in your profile.
- Your position is cached on your own device so the app does not re-prompt constantly. That cache expires after seven days and you can clear it by turning location off in the app.
- Coordinates are rounded before they are used as a cache key on our servers, so cached results are not tied to your exact position.
- We do not keep a history of where you have been. Coordinates travel with a search request and are not written to your account unless you explicitly save a default location.
How long we keep it
- Account data, saved places, search history, preferences, and reviews: kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Search results from providers: cached for a few minutes to keep the app fast and to avoid re-billing the same query.
- Push tokens: deleted as soon as you turn notifications off or sign out on that device.
- Server logs: retained by our hosting provider for a short operational window and not used to build a profile of you.
- Moderation records:when someone reports a review, we keep the report and a copy of the reported text even if that review or its author’s account is later deleted. Without this, anyone could erase the evidence against them by deleting their own content, and we could not act on repeat offenders. These records are not linked to your account after deletion and are not used for any other purpose.
Your choices and rights
You can do all of the following yourself, without emailing anyone:
- Delete your account and all data. Account, then Delete account, in the app or on the web. See deleting your data.
- Delete individual saved places, searches, or reviews from the relevant screen.
- Turn location off at any time, in the app or in your device settings.
- Turn push notifications off at any time, in the app or in your device settings.
- Change or clear your display name and default location in your profile.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or port your data, and to object to processing. Email jchamblee@twindesigns.tech and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you for it and we will not degrade the service because you asked.
Children
AI Reviews is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email jchamblee@twindesigns.tech and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your rows is enforced at the database level by row-level security, so one account cannot read another account’s saved places, history, or preferences even if the application layer had a bug. Reviews you post are public by design, which is stated at the point you write them.
No system is perfect. If you find a security issue, please report it to jchamblee@twindesigns.tech rather than disclosing it publicly, and we will work with you on it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update the date at the top and, for anything material, tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
